Autumn 2018 saw several seminars for teachers, organized by the Terezín Memorial in conjunction with other institutions. The October seminar in the Federal Republic of Germany (see Bulletin No. 4/2018) linked up to the Czech-Polish seminar held for the third year. Its first part took place in Terezín in May 2018, the second one in mid-October in the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum, a co-sponsor of the event. It was attended by 12 Polish and 10 Czech schoolteachers, with emphasis laid on presenting participants´ own educational projects and eventually on establishing contacts between Czech and Polish schools. The event came complete with lectures, workshops and visits to memorial sites.
At the turn of October and November a group of 18 Czech teachers traveled to attend a seminar in the Israeli Yad Vashem. Its intensive educational program was further enriched by a sightseeing tour of the Beit Theresienstadt Memorial and a visit to the kibbutz Gi´vat Haim. The seminar, held for the 15th time, is co-organized by the Czech Republic´s Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and the Memorial Yad Vashem.
The 18th seminar Holocaust in Education, sponsored by the Terezín Memorial in cooperation with the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, was held in Terezín between November 22 and 25, 2018. It was attended by 35 Czech schoolteachers who had a chance to take part in various workshops and hear interesting lectures given by lecturers from the Czech Republic and abroad.
