Attended by 31 Czech schoolteachers, an educational seminar was held in the Ravensbrück Memorial and in the House of the Wannsee Conference between October 12 and 15, 2023. This was a third-tier seminar, part of a multi-level structure of educational programs, organized by the Terezín Memorial in conjunction with the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and with foreign partners.
Its participants were introduced to the programs provided by the Departments of Education of the Ravensbrück Memorial and of the House of the Wannsee Conference, attending lectures and selected workshops, guided as well as individual tours of the inner exhibitions as well as outside areas of both institutions.
The program came complete with the screening of Juraj Herz´s movie “Caught by the Night” featuring the Czech journalist Jožka Jabůrková who was kept in the Ravensbrück camp during the war. The seminar also proved to be highly beneficial in helping the attendees to present their own projects and to get acquainted with those completed or prepared by their opposite numbers, and to exchange hands-on experience and methods in teaching schoolchildren about the Holocaust.
