Every year in early June, the Hana Greenfield Memorial presents an exhibition of the newly awarded works in the foyer of the Terezín Ghetto Museum. The opening is accompanied by a ceremonial announcement of the results of the Terezín Memorial’s art competitions. The exhibition remains on display until the end of August, after which it travels to other cultural institutions across the Czech Republic. In 2025, this traveling format featured two separate collections of artworks from different years of the competitions.

The theme of the 28th competition (2024) was: The first thing I will do after the war will be… The collection of winning works was exhibited in the Karel Hynek Mácha library in Litoměřice from August 1 to September 22, 2025. Its closing ceremony, dernissage, was attended by the staff of the Terezín Memorial’s Department of Education, Sylvie Holubová and Jan Kaňa. They introduced the public not only to the competition itself and the personality of Hana Greenfield, but also to other activities of the Department. The event was also attended by authors of the works awarded in previous years, and by Jana Šebová, a long-time juror of the art competition. The exhibition was then transferred to the Municipal library in Varnsdorf, where it was on display from October 1 to November 21, 2025.
The theme of the 2025 art competition (29th edition) was: “Never Again?” The awarded entries were exhibited in the small hall of the Municipal library in Lovosice from October 6 to December 3, 2025. The exhibition concluded with a closing event attended by staff of the Terezín Memorial’s Department of Education and the authors of the awarded works. The musical program was provided by the Lovosice art school.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to all the above-mentioned institutions for their interest in the exhibition, for establishing cooperation with the Terezín Memorial’s Department of Education in organizing these exhibitions, and for their excellent work.
Sylvie Holubová, Jan Kaňa
