From November 27 to 30, 2025, the Terezín Memorial played host to the 23rd advanced teacher training seminar entitled Holocaust in Education. Held with the financial support of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic, the course was designed for Czech teachers of all types of schools.
Forty educators from across the Czech Republic gathered to explore modern methodological and didactic approaches to Holocaust education. The diverse program featured expert lectures and interactive workshops led by specialists from prestigious international institutions, including the Jewish Museum in Prague, Yad Vashem memorial in Israel, the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum in Poland, the Wannsee Conference House in Germany, and the Anne Frank House in the Netherlands and other organizations involved in Holocaust research and education.
The seminar also included evening thematic cultural programs held on the premises of the Magdeburg Barracks. On Friday, Martin Dvořák and Norbert Žid presented their original performance Haas_Days After Glory. On Saturday evening, a concert was given by the Clarinet Society, which, together with the singer Lenka Gráczová, commemorated the Ghetto Swingers. The concert was interspersed with a discussion with historian Petr Koura, who explained the historical context of the performance.
The seminar provided participants not only with new insights and teaching materials that can be used in everyday teaching, but also with opportunities to share experiences and establish professional and personal contacts. With its concept, the seminar once again demonstrated its significance and important role in educating teachers about modern history and the memory of the Holocaust.
