On 25 – 28 November 2010, Terezín hosted the by now traditional seminar for teachers The Holocaust in education, a continuation of the spring seminar How to teach about the Holocaust. While the spring seminar is more fact-oriented and has only Czech lecturers, the winter seminar is focused on acquisition of practical teaching skills related to teaching about the Holocaust. It has Czech lecturers (from the Terezín Memorial, The Cultural and Education Centre of the Jewish Museum in Prague), but also (and mostly) foreign ones (from the Yad Vashem Memorial in Israel, The Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and State Museum, Shoah Foundation Institute, House of the Wannsee Conference, House of Anne Frank, The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington).
The specialized programme was complemented by cultural events in the evenings: the first of them being a film adaptation of short stories by Arnošt Lustig Transport z ráje (The Transport from Paradise), directed by Zdeněk Brynych in 1962. The next day, Disman Radio Children’s Choir led by Zdena Fleglová arrived with its performance of the opera Brundibár by Hans Krása and Adolf Hoffmeister. The musical accompaniment for the actors was provided by the Archioni orchestra, conducted by Michal Macourek. The Disman Choir also presented a series of children’s poems from the Terezín ghetto era, put to music by Mr Macourek. The Terezín ghetto survivor Marta Kottová was among those present. The third evening was dedicated to a production of an adaptation of Ladislav Fuks’s novel Pan Theodor Mundstock (Mr Theodor Mundstock), adapted, directed and performed by the one-man theatre of Jaroslav Achab Haidler of the Ústí nad Labem Činoherní Studio Theatre.
